I like February for so many reasons: Valentine’s Day, my birthday, my daughter’s birthday, and strawberries. Although February is the shortest month of the year, many people feel like it’s the longest due to the cold gray weather, but it doesn’t bother me because I love snow and the cold weather.

Another thing I think about in February is heart health and just how DoTerra Essential Oils, a pure and natural way to take care of that essential organ, including healthy eating and exercise. I myself have high blood pressure and am trying to wean myself off medication by using the oils. Of course, I’m not going to just stop medication, but if I get it low enough, I will discuss with my cardiologist, as we all should!

How am I going about this? First, I’m using Life Long Vitality, which is DoTerra’s wonderful supplements that contains antioxidants, magnesium and Omega 3 fatty acid just to mention a few. All of these are important for heart health.

Two of my favorite oils are relatively new to DoTerraYarrow Pom and Copaiba! Yarrow Pom is a blend of Yarrow Essential Oil and cold-pressed Pomegranate seed oil. This oil promotes cellular, immune and nervous system health along with metabolic support and is calming to the mind and body. You can put a couple of drops under your tongue, put a few drops in a Veggie capsule and swallow, rub it on your skin, or diffuse.

Copaiba oil also supports cardiovascular health and works with the endo-cannabinoid system (CB-1 and CB-2 receptors.) It is used the same way as Yarrow Pom.

A few other oils that are great for heart health are Marjoram because it widens the vessels and decreases blood pressure. Green Mandarin is very calming to the nervous system and can be used under the tongue or diffused.

Finally, a wonderful blend for cardiovascular health is 1-drop lavender, 1-drop ylang ylang and 1-drop bergamot. You can diffuse, take in a Veggie capsule or rub on skin!

When applying these oils to the skin, there are a number of locations—on the carotid arteries, heart, feet, under the left ring finger, above the elbow and the ring toe of the left foot.

So, when you think of February, don’t just think about Valentine’s day and cold weather, think of that wonderful muscle called the heart and learn to take care of it!
